Hello. Etiquette dictates that one shall not speak overmuch of him or herself, lest the listener grow weary and walk away deeming the speaker to be an egomaniacal oaf. However, logic dictates that if you have come to this page, you have come to delve into a little slice of Me, so Miss Manners will just have to glower in disapproval. I was raised in the little bubble of suspended reality known as Boulder, Colorado. I left this Tofutopia to attend the School of Visual Arts in New York City, but after a year the passion waned and I transferred to the Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine, from which I graduated in 2006 with a BFA in Illustration. Since then, I have returned to Boulder where I spend my time designing boards, ipod skins, signs, shirts and other sundry novelties, dabbling in sticker-tagging, painting, being a barista extrordinaire, falling off my snowboard and eating cereal. I am fascinated with the visual languages and codes of modern life; the symbols with which we continue to etch our marks into the proverbial cave walls, the icons that both customize our individuality and bind us to a greater culture. I LOVE visual identity systems, from logos to tattoos. I annoy my friends by leaving the lift line to check out a board design I haven't seen before. I pick wines for the label over price or "peppery undertones". I am influenced by everything from candy packaging to graffiti; tattoos of all cultures and genres; lowbrow art, art nouveau, tribal art, logo design, typography, board culture, and countless artists ranging from Alphonse Mucha to Glenn Barr to Guy Aitchison. Alright, I'm done. We now return to well-mannered behavior and our regularly scheduled programming. |
